Diverse Combination Possibilities

As the demand for offshore energy, aquaculture and transport infrastructure (“offshore terminals”, maritime service platforms) slowly grows (and will continue to do so), so will the economic and ecological advantages of a multifaceted offshore platform1. The diverse principals and designs of the hydraulic energy storage plants could easily be integrated into just about any design for a “multi-use offshore platform”. One of the greatest strengths of the buoyant hydraulic energy storage plant is that is has so many diverse combination possibilities.

Some of the resulting combinations of energy production and energy storage are as follows:

  • combination with solar power plants
  • combination with offshore wind turbines2 (“floating wind turbineā€œ)
  • combination with ocean current power stations

The integration of floating energy storage into offshore infrastructure designs is also possible:

  • platforms with functional buildings3 (floating hotels, aquafarms, etc.)
  • platforms as offshore interim storage facilities (floating container port, etc.)
